Darland Completes Work at Iowa Energy Plant

Darland Construction Co. has recently completed all of its work on a plant addition for MidAmerican Energy south of Council Bluffs on I-29.

Darland played an integral role in the Council Bluffs Energy Center Unit #4 project, a $1.5 billion addition to its coal-fired energy plant in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Selected by the prime contract holders Hitachi America Ltd. (HAL) and Aker Kvaerner Songer, Inc. (AKSI), Darland performed design-build services on 22 buildings and enclosures over a two year period.

Darland was responsible for the design and construction of several essential buildings including:

  • Water Treatment Plant
  • Administration Building
  • Turbine Building
  • Boiler Room
  • Warehouse
  • Several Pump House Enclosures

Darland had a project team of seven employees along with hundreds of subcontractors and suppliers dedicated to the MidAmerican Energy project.
