About the Project
Darland completed an office remodel for DMSi software in Omaha. This modern office renovation involved the removal of a section of the upper floor, creating an open, two-story area with ‘floating’ conference room. A large, custom staircase was constructed to anchor the two spaces. The project also included the creation of a large work café with various seating options, interactive games and beer taps.
The project incorporated a variety of materials, including sound-dampening acoustic wall panels and baffles, versatile magnetic steel walls, custom decorative metal wall dividers, oak wall paneling and mosaic wall tile.
The lobby features an approximately 154-square-foot fabric light fixture, complemented by prominent 8-foot diameter pendant lights at the stairwells and sleek L-shaped lighting in the corridors.
To achieve the desired “floating” appearance of the second-floor conference room, the structural engineer implemented a unique design. This involved reconfiguring the steel framework and engineering the support system to suspend the room from the third floor above, eliminating the need for visible supports below.
