About the Project
Darland completed construction on the $11.3M Woodmen Community Center and Lions Water Adventure Park in Kinston, North Carolina.
Woodmen Foundation and the City of Kinston, NC, selected Darland Construction and Avant Architects to plan and construct this multi-use community center and outdoor water park in Kinston, North Carolina. The building facility is comprised of three components: a 10,000 SF office building, a fitness center with an elevated track, and a support facility that houses the locker room, pool support, and a social hall with catering kitchen. The water park consists of three, 3-story slides;a 5,000 SF play area with fountains, slides, water dump buckets, and sprayers; a 550-foot long lazy river; a 25-yard, eight-lane competition lap pool and a therapeutic pool.
James Patterson, the Woodmen representative who worked with Darland on the project said, “Darland was always ahead of the curve. They pay great attention to detail, have good control of their subs, and really kept the reins on the budget. I always received whatever information I asked for in a very timely fashion.”
The project involved the coordination of over 25 subcontractors from the Kinston area performing a variety of tasks; from initial demolition to building a complex structure, to constructing basketball courts, pools, and slides.
