Darland completes historic remodel in Neligh

Darland recently completed a historic remodel on the more than 100-year-old Pinnacle Bank building in Neligh, Nebraska. Originally built in 1917 as 'Atlas Bank' it was the first bank building to be purchased by the Dinsdale family more than 60 years ago.

Darland worked with the project architect, Avant Architects, to preserve many of the original features while increasing efficiency and functionality for modern-day business. Inside the bank, the teller line was completely updated with new cabinetry, countertops, and a more functional design. The building's original marble elements were repaired and repurposed and new Terrazzo tiles were installed. Crews meticulously restored the original exterior by tuckpointing worn masonry joints and refinishing the terra cotta. All of the windows were also replaced and a new, ADA compliant entrance was constructed.

In Greek mythology, Atlas was condemned to hold up the celestial heavens for eternity. At Pinnacle Bank Neligh, the iconic Atlas statue that stood atop the bank had lost its globe sometime during the bank's century-long history. The final touch for this remodel came in the form of a custom-welded globe that crews installed on top of the bank.
